Yes, the IRCC officially accepted the PTE Academic for SDS application.

In other words, it is widely recognized by many Canadian organizations and universities. This explains why the PTE visa success rate in Canada is always above 90%.

More specifically, SDS is an expedited study permit process that targets students applying for Canadian universities. If you want to study there, you must complete your SDS application. One of its requirements relates to the PTE result.

The General Format

The PTE test pattern remains unchanged, regardless of country.

  • Listening: The section stretches from 45 to 57 minutes. Candidates are required to listen to audio and complete 8 question types.
  • Reading: You will have about 30 minutes to finish 5 parts of the section.
  • Speaking And Writing: This section takes up most of the time of the PTE test, from 54 to 67 minutes. You will have to complete 8 question types, including the unscored personal introduction.

The Test Eligibility

The Canadian PTE test is open to all students and employees worldwide who want to study and reside in Canada regardless of their religion, sex, and skin color.

Like the PTE Academic in general, the PTE for Canada is only accessible to candidates aged 16 years old or more.

If you are between 16 and 18, your parents or guardians must sign a parental consent form. This form means that your adults approve of your test-taking.

The Scoring

The overall PTE score falls between 10 to 90, and the higher marks mean better levels.

The report will be updated after 5 business days. During this time, you should frequently check your email so you don’t miss any instruction emails. Follow those guidelines, and you can check your final score.

PTE Requirement for Canada

  • Mobile devices are not allowed: You can use them after finishing your test and leaving the test center.
  • Bring along proof of identity: These documents, like a passport, help examiners check your identity and allow you to take the test.
  • Cheating is banned: In the worst case, you are forbidden from taking the PTE test for a long time.

Tips to Get Your Desired PTE Score For Canada

Retake PTE

One of the most practical tips is to take the PTE test again. Maybe you’ve got butterflies in your stomach, as this is the first time you’ve taken the test. Unfortunately, this anxiety affects your performance badly and results in a low score.

Hence, the next time you retake the test, you will better prepare and feel acquainted with it. You may no longer feel anxious like before and be able to get higher marks.

Consider Alternative Universities

If you don’t want to retake the test, check other universities with a lower minimum PTE score. For instance, you dream of studying at the University of Alberta, yet you only get 50.

Consider studying at the University of Manitoba instead, which only requires an overall score of 45.

Find Help From Online Courses

You can take online courses if you find PTE too difficult. There are thousands of online centers, so be careful to choose a reputable place. One of the most reliable websites is PTE Magic, where you can enjoy tailored training programs and other exclusive materials.

Review The Test’s Result

The final option is to re-examine your result. Once you decide to review your test, accept the risk that it may go up or down. You’ll get a refund if the reviewed score is changed. So take it very seriously!

Conclusion

This article has offered comprehensive information about the PTE test for Canada PR, especially for beginners concerned about studying abroad.

The PTE test is indeed difficult, and you’ll likely feel disappointed about yourself after making some errors. Yet don’t panic; as long as you continue to practice, you’ll conquer this challenge soon.
