But why do you need to take PTE? This is because more than 1,000 colleges and universities in the United States acknowledge PTE scholars, including Yale University, California University, Harvard University, New York University, etc.

The Test Eligibility

The PTE Academic test is only accessible to students from 16 years old. Suppose you are from 16 to 18 years old. In that case, you must complete and submit a parental consent form, which is a compulsory prerequisite. 

There is no upper age limit, so you can take the test freely, even if you are in your 30s or 40s now.

When you go to the test center, remember to bring a current and valid identity proof document, usually a passport.

You are required to follow all the PTE rules during the test-taking time. For instance, you are not allowed to cheat and are banned from using a smartphone.

The Minimum PTE Score For USA Universities (Updated)

The minimum score for the USA ranges from 50 to 70. However, those figures can change depending on your learning purposes. For example, if you aim for a Bachelor’s degree, 50-60 is fine. However, the Master’s degree requires a higher score range, from 55 to 70. 

Suppose you want to pursue a professional career in some aspects, like law, MBA, literature, and medicine. These subjects in various universities and colleges might require a high PTE score of 60-65. 

Particularly, Yale, Prince, Harvard, or any other prestigious universities in the Ivy League may call for an even higher PTE score of 70-75.

Harvard University 

To study at Harvard University, you must get a minimum PTE score of 70, equivalent to the IELTS band 7+. Some popular Harvard courses include business administration, law, and computer science.  

Stanford University

Stanford University is no stranger to scholarship hunters, thanks to its prestige and great learning opportunities. Its minimum PTE score is 68, which is two scores lower than Harvard’s.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology
