In the PTE Core Personal Introduction task, you need to talk about yourself.

You will have 25 seconds to read the prompt and prepare your response. The next 30 seconds will be for answering. You can only record once.

This part does not affect your score but allows you to get familiar with the test’s technology. Thus, you’ll not have technical problems when proceeding with the next speaking and listening sections.

However, your response will be sent to the institutions you apply to, so make sure you are ready for it.

What Should You Say In PTE Core Personal Introduction?

In this section, you should speak briefly but clearly about yourself. It’s necessary to have well-constructed content covering important information. Furthermore, you can impress the admissions officers by highlighting your unique aspect in your answer.

The information that should be included in your response are:

  • Your age
  • Where are you from? Which country? City?
  • Where do you live?
  • What’s your educational background?
  • Explain your work experience, if any.
  • Share your interests or hobbies.
  • Talk about your future goals.
  • Explain why you want to study abroad/ immigrate
  • Why do you take the PTE test?

These are just basic points; you can add more information to improve your answer. Remember to make it sufficiently and within the time frame. Plus, it’s recommended to use formal and polished language.

6 Tips For PTE Core Personal Introduction

Keep Practicing

Everybody knows practice makes perfect. Prepare a unique introduction about yourself and practice it every day. Record yourself and listen again to identify problematic areas and fix them. Speaking in front of a mirror encourages confidence and helps you produce a fluent answer.

Smartly Organize Structure To Fit The Time Frame

Remember that you have only 25 seconds to prepare your speech, so use them wisely. A clear structure ensures you cover all necessary information with high cohesion and coherence.

You only have 30 seconds to speak. Thus, ensure you have a brief opening, a well-structured body, and an impressive closing.

Keep It Concise And Authentic

Remember that your answer should be authentic. You need to truly reflect on yourself without any fake information and express your personality to impress the examiners. If possible, be specific in your answers, for example, mentioning years of experience or your degree.

However, don’t include too much information in a 30-second introduction. It might overshadow other important points and distract the judge. So, focus only on the most important information to grab the listener’s attention.

Pay Attention To Your Speaking Speed And Tone

Maintaining a naturally normal speed and tone will help you respond more clearly, thus generating a genuine connection.

Pauses or stops while speaking can affect your fluency, so try to avoid them. But if you do, don’t lose your confidence and keep going on.

Speak Confidently With Added Body Language

Show your confidence during the Personal Introduction with your speech and body language to leave a good impression. Remember to:

  • Keep a straight and relaxed posture
  • Stay calm and avoid showing your nervousness and reluctance in your voice
  • Maintain your answer’s clarity
  • Speak with a steady pace and tone.

Ensure The Recording Quality

Clear audio is necessary for better-quality recording. So, you should check the microphone in advance to see if there’s any error. Plus, ensure the internet connection is stable. If any issue arises, tell the examiner immediately.

Conclusion

Though the PTE Core Personal Introduction does not contribute to your score, performing well will create a good impression and build confidence for the next parts.

You need to use your time wisely to include a unique, clear, and sufficient answer in your performance. Remember to follow our helpful tips above to achieve the best result.
